ISQua, the International Society for Quality in Health Care, is a non-profit, independent organization with members in over 70 countries. ISQua surveys and accredits health care accreditors. Its mission is to drive continual improvement in the quality and safety of health care worldwide through education, research, collaboration, and the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge.
In 1995, Accreditation Canada was one of the founding members of the organization, and began pilot testing ISQua’s accreditation program at that time.
Accreditation Canada’s first survey with ISQua was in 1998, and it has received a four-year accreditation award from ISQua four times since then.
The last survey was held in February 2011. Three surveyors spent a week at Accreditation Canada interviewing teams and reviewing self-assessments and evidence. Accreditation Canada achieved three separate accreditation awards from ISQua — for the organization, the standards, and the surveyor.
