ISQua, the International Society for Quality in Health Care, is a non-profit, independent organization with members in over 70 countries. ISQua works to provide services to guide health professionals, providers, researchers, agencies, policy makers and consumers, to achieve excellence in health care delivery to all people, and to continuously improve the quality and safety of care.
Accreditation Canada was one of the founding members of the ISQua Secretariat in Australia in 1995, and began pilot testing ISQua’s accreditation program at that time. Accreditation Canada’s first survey with ISQua was in 1998, and it has received a four-year accreditation award from ISQua three times since then. Following Accreditation Canada’s last survey in 2006, ISQua accreditation for both the organization and the accreditation standards was achieved, and is endorsed until 2010.
Accreditation Canada staff is looking forward to the next ISQua survey taking place from February 16 - 19, 2010. During this fourth accreditation process, Accreditation Canada is aiming to have the organization, its Qmentum standards, as well as its Surveyor Training Program accredited by ISQua.
