Strategic Plan

As part of our ongoing commitment
to ensuring that our clients have the accreditation processes they need to best serve their publics, Accreditation Canada has developed a new Strategic Plan for 2010 to 2013. Strategic planning is always a valuable process. It is a chance to reflect on what has been accomplished and what needs to be done, and a time to consider where to stay the course and where to adjust in light of the current environment.

This type of work isn’t done in isolation. We took the planning process as an opportunity for in-depth discussions with our clients, surveyors, staff, our external partners and stakeholders. The insights and opinions we received were invaluable in crafting the new strategic directions. We also surveyed the public for the first time. Their views on accreditation and the importance of quality improvement were insightful and underscore the importance of putting in place the assurances and accountability that accreditation supports.

On behalf of Accreditation Canada’s board and staff, we thank everyone for their time, their honesty, and their interest.

As you will see when you review the Strategic Plan, we plan to strengthen our contributions to the quality health agenda in Canada, as well as continue to improve and refine our own programs and services. We will also place greater emphasis on aligning our programs with other accrediting bodies and like organizations, to minimize the reporting burden on our client organizations.

Please review our new Strategic Plan and forward it along to your colleagues. If you have comments or questions about it, let us know. We at Accreditation Canada are looking forward to the next four years as we continue to contribute to health care quality improvement through accreditation.
