    The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community. The legislative mandate for CSC to provide health services to federal offenders comes from the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA).
     
    As a leader in correctional practices and innovation, CSC health care professionals and staff provide offenders with accredited physical and mental health services that are appropriate to the correctional environment and meets professional community standards.  Accredited health care facilities are located in 52 institutions, five Regional Headquarters and National Headquarters, four Regional Treatment Centers, one Regional Psychiatric Center as well as five Regional Pharmacies.

    CSC continues to be committed to addressing opportunities for improvement and maintaining its accredited status as it strives to provide safe quality physical and mental health services to federal offenders. Adequately addressing offenders’ health needs enables them to participate in correctional programs that contribute to successful reintegration as well as public health and safety.
