Distinction Program

Accreditation Canada has partnered with the Canadian Stroke Network to develop a Distinction program for stroke services. The Stroke Services Distinction program addresses clinical excellence, use of performance indicators, and key aspects of quality in delivering stroke care.

Distinction is an optional program that offers a rigorous and highly specialized review process based on in-depth standards and performance measures. The program recognizes organizations for outstanding commitment to excellence and leadership in a specific field of expertise.

Distinction standards and performance indicators are developed in close consultation with key stakeholders and content experts to reflect detailed practices and the most up-to-date evidence. The Distinction program includes a comprehensive on-site visit by evaluators with extensive knowledge and expertise in the field.

    Why choose Distinction?

Distinction is a new opportunity for organizations to:

    • Be recognized for exceptional commitment to excellence, innovation, high-quality services, and positive outcomes
    • Achieve and maintain quality and safety by demonstrating compliance with national standards of excellence, and attaining performance measure thresholds

    What does Distinction cost?

The Distinction fee structure is divided into two parts: the base fee and the evaluator fee.

    Base fee
The base fee covers a two-year Distinction cycle. The fee is $3,500 for one Distinction program. If an organization wishes to participate in both Distinction programs at once, the fee is $5,600.

    Evaluator fee
The total evaluator fee is based on the number of evaluator days required for the on-site visit. The number of evaluator days depends on the size of the organization and the number of sites participating in the Distinction program.

    Fees are subject to change.
